Clean up The World – Dubai 18-Nov-16

Dubai Municipality [DM] has organized an event named Clean up The World as a part of international movement with similar name which has presence in many countries worldwide. In Dubai, UAE this movement is widely supported by the ever so vibrant and environmentally active government entity Dubai Municipality.

As the fellow ambassadors are aware that I am the founder of an environmental initiative and a group of students named Serve the Earth. This group is very active for past many years and we have organized many eco-friendly events & initiatives that I regularly share on social media by my face book page https://www.facebook.com/servetheearth/And also on this international environmental platform, Tunza Eco-Generation.

I registered my group with DM and after their confirmation I put the invitation to join this event on the social media. You will be surprised to note, fellow ambassadors that our target participation was achieved within 5 hours of posting & we had to regret to many enthusiastic members as the registrations were on first come first served basis and reluctantly were closed.

The event was planned at 7AM in the morning and we reached the site 30 minutes before time. Within no time all the registered & confirmed members arrived with their ever so supportive parents. With due permission from the DM officials we distributed T-Shirts, Caps, Collection bags & gloves to all the members. They have provided refreshments for us & our parents as well.

As per my protocol I addressed the gathering and first explained them about benefits of keeping the landfills under check and the menace of Air-pollution caused by littering and other evils. As it is my duty I explained them about Tunza Eco-Generation and encouraged them to join the portal and offer the eco-services to The Mother Earth. Also I reminded them to remain safe while cleaning up and avoid touching glass and other sharp objects.

The participants were extremely excited to begin and as soon as we commenced the cleaning up event they quickly moved in to the area & within a few hours the whole site was spick & span.

The targeted clean up area was a part of huge labour accommodation at the area known as Muhaisnah in Dubai, UAE. Many workers came out from their rooms and started looking at us in disbelief. They could not believe their eyes when they saw kids as young as 6 years of age were cleaning the litter caused by their carelessness. It was an eye-opener for them & I believe that next time they will think 10 times before littering and will dispose wisely in bins.

We stacked all the bags full of Paper, cardboard, plastic litter together so the DM officials can pick them up later. The parents helped to clear the glass bottles and also stacked them in the pile.

It was a site to behold and our excitement knows no bounds when all the area was clean & tidy. It was time for posing for a group picture as a remembrance and motivation for others to organize similar campaigns in their respective areas.

Fellow ambassadors I feel highly motivated by your vibrant reports & noble eco-activities. Kindly do read my report & offer your valuable comments for my improvement.

Thanks for reading.

PS: In the pictures you might have noticed that we all are making a hand gesture. This gesture means a three fingure salute Started by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in February 2013 during the Government Summit in Dubai, the three fingers mean win, victory, and love, and symbolize work ethic, success, and love of the nation.
