![]() ![]() Reading is not as boring as it seems. Some of the books are actually very, very good. They don't only entertain us, but also gives us knowledge and introduce us to new places we have never been to. When I read, it feels as if I'm watching a movie inside my head. It's not uncommon to feel that way, but some books are hard to connect with. If you can't connect with a book, it will leads to boredom, and eventually you will put the book down. Dr. Seuss' books like 'The Cat in the Hat' or 'Green Eggs and Ham' are one of the best children books in my opinion. But the one that really captures my attention is 'The Lorax'. In a world where trees can't be found anywhere and people have to buy oxygen, a boy set out on a quest to find a tree. A real one, that gives air for free. In order to do thathe needs to find the Once-ler, who then tells him of how it used to be when trees were around and of a creature named 'The Lorax'. He tells of how people cut down all the trees until the very last one just because of their greed. How they chased off the animals that used to live there. Then when he finished, the boy realized he got more than what he bargained for, the Once-ler gives him the last seed of the tree and wish him the very best. This story made me realized that effects of deforestation are much worse than I thought. It's not just us that's affected but also the animals that called the forest their home. All of this to satisfy the greed of men, which is never ending. Dr. Seuss books tell stories through poems and colorful pictures, which are easy to understand. Most importantly, it gets the points across. I hope you all enjoy this book! |
