 In the mids of the Grand Celebration of their ISSA-FLOW Super Cup victory, I was quite honoured to be on the grounds, on the 14th of November. The Wolmer's Boys' School is one of the Top High schools in Jamaica. The students are well-rounded, having succeeded both in academics and in the area of sports.  Travis Rowe, Deputy Head Boy of the Wolmer's Boys' School and Vice President of the Tourism Action Club alongside Regional Ambassador Leneka Rhoden. As an Ambassador, I am tasked with the duty of raising awareness. I visited the School's Tourism Action Club to have a brief discussion on "The Environment's Impact on Tourism." It's quite a flip of script as usually one would discuss the "Impact that Tourism has on the Environment." As mentioned on The United Nations Environmental Programme Website, the quality of the environment, both natural and man-made, is essential to tourism. However, tourism's relationship with the environment is complex. The environment itself is an independent factor for a number of reasons. The environment must be maintained to a certain standard to support the tourism industry. Littering is a common day-to-day activity, if the streets were not cleaned as often, then no country would be attractive or deemed as accommodating to tourists. The environment is now being adversely affected by climate change. Sea-level rise is an outcome of this phenomenon and the rising of the sea level affects our coastlines. We may eventually lose our beaches and the largest industry in the world, Tourism, will be affected. The young men were very interactive and they all made strong points. Jean-Luc did an amazing job in concluding the discussion. He illustrated how the two are related and dependent on each other. The president of the club, Shiyan Barnett, who is also one of the Deputy Head Boys of the Institution, prepared some questions for the giving-away of the Environment Friendly pens and the Sticky note-pads provided by Tunza Eco-Generation, UNEP and Samsung Engineering.
