![]() To celebrate UAE?s 15 years of national conservation work, the Caracal Challenge is scheduled for November 11-12 by Emirate Wildlife Society and World Wildlife Fund (EWS-WWF). The Caracal Challenge is named after the UAE?s desert wild cat. The fast paced development is placing pressure on UAE wildlife and protecting animals is critical and EWS-WWF has been at the forefront of the conservation efforts to help find solution to this pressure. It is a fund-raising excursion and is inviting the enthusiasts on a desert trek accompanied by seasoned professional guides. Around 30 experienced guides from across the GCC region will guide the participants through the challenge. These funds will be used for the Terrestrial Conservation Programme designed to protect land-based species and habitat across the UAE and Gulf region. A spokesperson of the organisers said around 400 people from the UAE and other Gulf countries will trek 15km into Al Khatim desert in Abu Dhabi on Friday & Saturday. The participants do not need previous trekking experience but basic fitness level is enough. They will get an opportunity to experience and to navigate the vast and breathtaking desert landscape at night and learn about the UAE?s natural environment along with testing their endurance. Nature enthusiasts can register for the trek on www.husaak.com/tcc. It will be truly a unique opportunity to experience Al Khatim desert by foot & definitely a day full of fun along with rewarding as funds will be raised for a cause. All participants will be given guide sheets to follow to make sure no trash is left behind in the desert and clean up rounds will also be conducted. The event is hosted by Husaak Adventures in partnership with Environment Agency — Abu Dhabi (EAD), Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, sponsored by Khidmah and Adventure HQ.
