Hellow fellow E-gen ambassadors sorry for the late report about strategies for a greener community and how to achieve.

ARUSHA CITY
Arusha is the city found on the northern zone of Tanzania, the region was entitled as the greenest on the environment day last year on 2015, which was conducted in Tanga region. The award was given to the city council Director, Alhaj Juma Idd by the former vice president Dr Mohammed Gharib Billal.
City Director revealed that Arusha managed to overtake Mwanza region, in the lake zone from the top spot in 2015.2014 Arusha city took the second position and 2013 took the third position. Awards for the cleanest urban centers come in four categories depending with status. There is city category, municipal category, district category and town category.

Factors to win
The Arusha City Director said among the conditions which pressed the urban center onto the appealing spot is greenery factor, for example they do not grant building permit for both residential and commercial premises until they are pleased that the applicants have planted at least five fully flourishing trees on the planned construction location.

Base on the city council they said they have been able to collect and dispose local waste load, but could not explain at what extent.

Arusha has spent 25.7$ billions from the World Bank in refurbishing the city infrastructure such as roads, streets and bridges under Tanzania Strategic Cities Project (TCSP) initiatives. (All Africa, 2015)

MOSHI MUNICIPAL
Moshi is an average sized town with almost 200,000 citizens positioned on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro, The city?s location offers it with more fresh running water than greatest Tanzanian cities and towns.

Moshi has frequently won the title as the cleanest municipality in Tanzania. In 2015 it participated in the Earth Hour City Challenge together with other Tanzanian towns found in different regions for example Dar es Salaam, Mwanza etc. Moshi outset other regions and became number one cleanest town/Municipal in Tanzania.

Strategies done to be greenest municipal
Water management, after a long fall of the water service, the Moshi Water Supply Rehabilitation Project was introduced in 1995 as a portion of a wider Tanzania Pilot program with German funding to test a model of semi-autonomus commercially feasible urban water utilities, in 1998, the Moshi Urban Water and sewerage authority (MUWSA), was recognized as one of the first autonomous ?Urban Water and sewerage authority. The Moshi Urban Water and sewerage authority (MUWSA) succeeded as compared when it was under centralization (under government), though government still has a say in MUWSA for example in setting tariff and so forth.

Solid waste management and Municipal fines on littering, Moshi occasionally called the cleanest town in east Africa, frequently winning the cleanest municipality in Tanzania. The system of fines on littering was introduced on 1950?s.Since 1999 it has a stakeholder policy for its waste management system, which consists of the municipality, a private contractor and a community based organization. It gathers around 60% of waste, while 20% is composted (plant fertilizer).

Waste management projects, Moshi has started to work with projects to use waste as a resource. For example is the Maboginini Irrigation Project that uses refined sewage .The other one is biogas production from bio-latrines, cow sheds and piggeries, replacing firewood as cooking fuel in school.
Moshi has also been successful in recent years in conserving its most significant natural resource forests on the slopes of Kilimanjaro.
In 2012 it implemented stakeholder proposal, preventing to demolish trees and transporting forest produces even from confidentially owned plot. From the last years the regional authorities have planted more than 10 million trees to restore the damaged environment.
