 Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete (former Tanzanian president),bought rhino from South Africa known as George the rhino and brought to Serengeti national park in 2010 to increase the rhino population .
Despite the effort put forward by the former Tanzanian president, to increase these species population,poachers were known for setback in this mission.Three men were held accountable for the death of George the Rhino. Two responsible men for the death of George "Rhino" were brothers and one was a resident.The Serengeti District Court decided to sentence these three people to 30 years jail after convicting them of killing Gorge the rhino. They were also charged of killing rhinos and elephants,unlawful possession of government trophies and illegal possession of firearm.
