![]() There is no doubt every country in this world knows Starbucks. The American coffee company and coffeehouse chain has provided us all with one of the best beverages we've ever tasted. But delicious food and beverages is not the only thing Starbucks has provided for us. In 1995, Starbucks came up with an idea to give away free bag of used coffee grounds. Coffee grounds can be used to enrich gardens and compost, moreover used coffee grounds can be make into body scrubs. 3 ways we can use used coffee grounds to enrich our gardens according to Starbucks: 1. Mix in with soil Used coffee grounds have a high amount of nitrogen and high level of acidity, fit for planting trees which are capable of being surrounded by acidic environment. When mix in with soil and/or dead leaves, will neutralize the pH level. 2. Mix with compost Used coffee grounds have a 'carbon-nitrogen' rate in a ratio of 20:1 which enhanced the composts' ability. No more than 25% of the used coffee grounds should be added. 3. Mix with dried leaves The used coffee grounds will be turn into food for composers. These bags of used coffee grounds are just an example of how Starbucks encourages green living. Most of the products from Starbucks are environmentally friendly and recycled from organic wastes, such as the table, the cup holder etc. |
