Encroachment of Trees: An Un-Diagonsed Disease

by | 01-10-2016 01:35

Encroachment, the term which is simpler and common to all of us but rarely we take this term serious. Basically, it is intrusion on person's territory without any legal notice from court. However, we don't care whosoever does illegal acts where law and order is fun of kids but if we do care then it is a very serious matter to be considered, as it is causing and damaging our environment. How? Answer is, encroachment on trees for building shopping malls, business sectors or any constructive work for economic development and more places to roam around we forget about Environment- as encroaching trees, we would not be able to combat climate change, save water, prevent water pollution, prevent soil erosion, shield ultra violet rays, provide a canopy and habitat for wildlife etc.

Although, population is increasing very rapidly, so in order to meet their demands for shelter and creating job opportunities by stabling business units is great idea but trimming trees from roots and allowing no alternative for environmental protection is worse than ever. Trees play very important role for environmental protection- Trees create an ecosystem to provide habitat and food for birds and other animals. They absorb carbon dioxide and potentially harmful gasses, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, from the air and bless us with oxygen which is main ingredient of our life to survive. According to google, the human can go for more than three weeks without food and 8-10 days without water (Mahtama Gandhi survived 21 days of complete starvation) but without oxygen one can not survive for more than 2-3 minutes. Furthermore, trees create economic opportunities, conserve energy, provide wood & food, increase property value, and cool the street and the city.

Therefore, we should take actions against such encroachments which are impacting on environmental change and indirectly effecting the lives of surroundings- Either they should stop encroachments on trees for the sake of profit or allowing alternatives as per the population over there and that suppose to be ONE LARGE TREE FOR FOUR PEOPLE, and/or leaving a portion for park for plantation etc.
