 The International Day of Peace, sometimes unofficially known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on 21 September. The theme this year is The Sustainable Development Goals Building Blocks for Peace. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon rang the peace bell and reminded everyone of the sustainable goals. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are our shared vision of humanity and a social contract between the world's leaders and the people. They are a to-do list for people and planet, and a blueprint for success. Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek, as said by Dalai Lama XIV.
