Part II

The Nature Conservancy is also from United States. Its main focus is on land protection with over 117 million acres sustained, 5.000 miles of rivers kept clean, and hundreds of marine conservation projects. Although I haven?t got chance to work with this group yet, I know they have excellent reputation an indeed, this organization is one of the most successful and effective organization that is still active today. They have excellent supplies and 700 expert scientists as staffs to work on conservation works.

Although limited to California, Heal the Bay is effective organization that makes SoCal region?s ocean water safe and clean. When we go to the near-by beaches, We can often find people pick up trash or cigarette butts. Many high school organization club cooperates with Heal the Bay to clean our area. What I like about their beach cleanup project is that they give a short description of the harmful impact trash has on the ocean and marine life, and explains how our participation can contribute. This lecture allows many volunteers to be more clear on the cause and effect of their campaign.

Friends of the Earth is also focused in United States. The members of the Friends of the Earth focus on healthy people, animals, planets, land, water, and air. They not only encourage the community to step up to take part in, but also focus on influential actions such as supporting political economic policies.

In contrast, more government-related ?Agencies? work closely with the politics and the economy The U.S Environmental Protection Agency was established fairly recent compared to other organizations (When I was born!) United States Environmental Protection Agency, For example, is hugely influenced by the U.S government. The EPA passes law or amendments, but it?s hard to get approvals from the governments on what they do.
