Nowadays, one of the biggest challenges for the world is to face up the preservation of the biodiversity or biological diversity. Everywhere in the world they work to preserve it, work to reduce extinction of animals or plants. In Haiti, especially in the South of the country, the Botanical Garden of Cayes is the first to work on the preservation.

Haiti is one of the countries of the region which has important endemic types (animals and plants). But the human activities like deforestation for agriculture and hunting are about to destroy this very considered biodiversity in the country. Conscious of these risks which menace our ecosystem with the extinction of the precious types. They have decided to do inventory of the types, they go all over the country especially the two main forests, Pic Macaya located in the south of Haiti where a very important diversity has. And Forest of pine trees which separated between Haiti and Dominican Republic. The part of the Forest in Haiti is divided in two units one on the border and the other in the South Est of Haiti. This forest is an homogeneous forest with more than 80% of Pine trees.

The Botanical Garden is inventorying them, taking some endemics types of plants especially these which are about to extinct and do a conservation. This conservation is possible with some specialists who take them and do the reproduction of them. Some of them are used to do research by the specialists who come from all over the world. One of the endemics types is a Pine tree which is the one that found in the Forest of Pine trees and Pic Macaya Forest also.

Then, Botanical Garden of Cayes is about to do its best to keep the biological diversity in Haiti, and there is an ecological place where some activities like conferences, weeding, recreative day etc can be placed. It?s a very beautiful place, very attractive where even lovers are going to have fun.

Thus, let?s follow this initiative, create area for distraction and protect the environment at the same time.
