![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Today I would like to share with all of you something particularly interesting. In the recent past, we have all seen people recycling on their own and trying to make a difference in their own capacity and doing an excellent job. However, drops make an ocean. Without reaching out to the masses and collectively working for the Earth?s immediate and necessary protection, it is impossible to make a change. Therefore, I have not only resolved to recycling, but have also made it a point to encourage my community. How? Let me tell you. I have initiated the ?Neighborhood Paper Recycling Campaign? and the ?Plastic bottle Take-Back Campaign? in my community for the past few months. It has truly yielded some amazing results. This is because, not only am I doing my part for the environment but am also spreading the essence of preservation and sustainability through a simple act of recycling. I call it, spreading the ?Green Infection?. Why not infect the world with positivity, and especially in the sphere of something that is absolutely vital for our future and our future generations? These children, believe me are so enthusiastic always keen to be the top collector of the month in paper, plastic or cans, a bait, which is leading them to indirectly work towards the green cause. Two young girls (The first photo), Noopur and Resham are only 10 and 6 years old respectively, but they come, every week without fail to deliver their recyclables. One time, they even showed some innovation by beating the challenge of carrying their heavy recyclables, by using their bicycle as a stand! It is truly very inspiring to learn such innocent, yet efficient ideas from the new generation, which is going to handle our world tomorrow. Yet another example which I have to take is a boy named Kunal (second Picture) who came one Friday morning and submitted 84kg of newspapers. He was flying to India the very next day, and it was the last day of the month. Sure that he wouldn?t be able to do anything about it, I told him that he had fallen short by just 15 kg this month to be the top collector but encouraged him to do even better next time. To my surprise, early in the evening, I got a call from him saying that he had collected some more newspaper! I welcomed him to submit and when we weighed them, we found the newspaper to be 24kgs, his total easily becoming the top for that month. Not only them, but I also have a college going student, Amit and his younger brother Anish, who come every month to submit their recyclables without fail. In this manner, till now I have collected and recycled from my neighborhood more than 3000 kgs of newspaper, thus saving 51 trees since 2016 has started. And it?s not only the environmental difference that we are making. It?s about the lives we touch. When I asked Kunal how did he collect 24kgs in a few hours, he said that he ed all of his friends, who ed THEIR friends to give all the newspapers that they had to Kunal. So, I was right about the ?Green Infection?, wasn?t I? :?) |
