
After the success of India's first Ecofriendly Airport - Cochin International Airport (Kerala) , the country is ready to open up it's second ecofriendly Airport situated in the City of Vadodara (Gujarat). The Airport is set to operate in August since most of the major work has already been completed .The Airport has already received Green Ratings of International Habitat Assessment (GRIHA), which is the highest rating given to Eco-friendly buildings. "All major works will be completed by end of this month and the airport will be fully ready by July end. PMO is directly monitoring the progress and PM may inaugurate it in August," said N K Shukla, general manager (projects) The airport is build in an area of 18,120 sq meters . The green airport is part of the ongoing initiative by the government to renovate the existing airports in the country and bring them to international standards. The commencement of 2 Green Airports in the same year is a great success for the nation . The same would also motivate other states to have their own Green Airport too.
