The use of renewable energy to replace energy sources that cannot be refurbished, such as petroleum, is spread into various sectors. One of them is the use of renewable energy to substitute for vehicle fuel.

GESITS (Garasindo Electric Scooter ITS) is an electric motor with electric power developed by Garasindo and ITS. Almost all of the components used were local, except for the battery. The design of GESITS is a collaboration of the some majors in the ITS such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics engineering, and product design.

Reporting from ITS Online, GESITS Team Leader Dr. Muhammad Nur Yuniarto explained that the mileage of the electric motor is between 80 to 100 kilometers on one filling of the battery. Duration of charging the battery takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Although not yet mass produced, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) has promised to production of GESITS. In addition many has interested in GESITS, such as PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), which has ordered 5000 units.
