![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() By 10 am, we were at the EPA head office in Accra, Ghana's capital city. I was surprise to see environmental leaders from Ivory Coast who had traveled to Ghana just to support us in this very campaign. The previous anti-coal campaign which I have organized and led had successfully postponed the commencement of the coal project from August 2015 to March 2016. We are of the view that with more people joining the campaign, Ghana will have a no coal future. Upon arriving at the EPA head office, we sung and attracted lots of staff at the office complex. Using a loud microphone, I led the group by reading out our petition to the staff and employees at the EPA. Afterwards, we submitted our petition to the EPA - urging them to reject #coal in Ghana. The Deputy Executive Director of EPA was very delighted about our democratic advocacy. He assured us that our inputs will be considered during the review of the proposed project. Hopefully, there will be no coal in Ghana. I hereby urge you all to stand as youth advocates and a voice for future generations and push government and responsible agencies to consider the environment in their every project. |
