![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It is well known fact that human activity has a negative impact on the natural environment, which has caused the climate change. It has already been a serious issue that mankind take active actions to prevent the expected disasters such as warm temperatures, glaciers melting and rising sea levels etc.
Latin America is responsible for a 12.5% of global carbon emissions so it is necessary to scale up the action to reduce carbon emission. Reducing deforestation, increasing reforestation and afforestation will be the way to decrease greenhouse gas emission and enhance resilience against climate impacts.
Let's look at environmental problem for 6 Latin American nations below. 1. Argentina : The number of Magellanic penguins have been decreased due to increased rainfall caused by climate change during breeding season influences negatively their possibility to be survived. 2. Bolivia : The most glaciers in the Andes could be disappeared by 2028, which means Bolivians cannot access to clean water. 3. Chile : There are various problems in Chile. Deforestation, air pollution, soil erosion ,water shortage and loss of biodiversity etc. influence Chile. 4. Brazil : One of the most important nature defense against global warming, Amazon Forest has been destroyed dramatically. 5. Colombia : Illegal drug crops affect the serious deforestation in Colombia. Increased cocaine production and the loss of rain forest become a significant issue to be aware of. 6. Mexico : Air pollution in Mexico city is significant problem. The UN reports that this city is the most polluted city on the planet.
