![]() ![]() Rwanda knows two types of seasons. two dry seasons and two wet seasons. Rain in Rwandan culture is a symbol of benediction. On some christian venerable days, it is likely to rain. This appears to their beliefs as a divine act. Apart from the christian aspect, rain is a source of fertility. When you travel to some desertic areas, you never doubt that infertility is due to lack of water in the soil. This is evidenced by that ancient Egypt was fertile on the side Nile which was venerated. Rain is the source of water for the main part of the world. Studying in primary and secondary school, we called the rain source of atmospheric water. But me seeing, I saw it is the source of all kinds of water. I one can doubt, refer to the cycle of water. The underground water is the one that infiltrates in the soil after it had rained. All of water drainage systems and water treatment plant use the runoffs directly or indirectly created by the rain. Scientifically speaking, the paramount condition of photosynthesis, germination, seed dispersal... to take place, is the presence of water. So Rwandans to overvalue the rain could in no circumstance be considered as no sense. I never doubt that it is the same form people in all corners of the globe. However, the period from the late march up to the early may is a short wet season. Since the last March it is raining cuts and dogs in Rwanda. It is unusual and in the whole history it has scarcely rained as such. Radio Rwanda reported the death of 12 people in the early April and spoilage of the population properties that is uncountable. At Musanze, some people perished of the thunder. Circuits breaks occur in so many houses... Currently I don't exactly know where it arrives. But, ' Est modus in rebus', I saw many houses in my locality falling down due to heavy rain. In the road of Kigali- Rubavu, at Mukamira the road is hardly seen. It is full of mad. I estimate comparing with news we find in newspapers, on radios, and TV. Fortunately, measures are taken into consideration, though, indirect. Moving people from risky zones, adjustment of constructing rules, controlling houses people construct,... the government helps people without the ability to construct worth houses. More happily, it is dwindling down. I wish you peace. Jean de Dieu Nkunda from Rwanda. |
