Zephyrus - Floods Early Warning System Projectby | 08-05-2016 00:34 |

Hello guys! First, I would to apologize for the late post about "Technology that saves the environment" because I have healthy issue recently. But, Alhamdulillah I already recovered as well. So, today we will discuss about Floods Early Warning System (EWS), that's been my organization's project since 2015. We called it Zephyrus Project, due to Floods issue that always come every year in Bandung. We?re eager to solve the problem by providing this kind of EWS. Basically, what we need to do is providing Automatic Weather Station (AWS) and Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR). These are basic equipment for measuring daily condition of the Weather and Water Level on the Rivers. Putting this equipment on the riverside in the same watershed could provide a meaningful data. Because based on these data, we can analysis the historical of the Floods, i.e. with 20 mm of rainfall, when will the floods come? How long it takes to the downstream of the rivers? How big the impact of the floods? And etc. These kind of data would be very useful to create the EWS, and of course, we can save more life and lots of sectors especially on Economic and Environmental sectors. At least, the government and the societies itself can be prepared for the worst conditional that might happens in the City. The concept of this EWS is really simple, based on this historical data, we can add some feature to the equipment. Just like I said before, if one of AWS records the heavy precipitation or AWLR records the water level rising, then it could give some warning system to the local government, local youth communities, and societies. Zephyrus project itself still being developed by Meteorology Students Association, and if it?s possible, we can joint implementation with Weather and Climate Prediction Laboratory or local bureau of Meteorology, to provide long-term EWS based on Weather prediction. This means, we can provide the EWS for the next 2 days – 14 days. Ah! This is why I love Meteorology, for those who interested more, kindly please write your comment below, or contact me directly via linkedin.com :) Best Regards, Muhammad Rafi Al-Hariri Nasution https://www.linkedin.com/in/rafiharirinst
