![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On the special edition of the a widely acclaimed weekly programme, "Youth Platform" at the foremost TV station in Nigeria, Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC, located in Akure, Ondo state, Nigeria. I discussed and shared ideas on "The Science of Ozone layer depletion and Environmental degradation". I was able to emphasize the great benefits the ozone layer has on the world climate through its ability to reduce the direct ultra-violet rays from the sun. Highlights of the programme include discussing about the science and elements involved in ozone formation and the adverse effects human activities has had on it over the years. I was able to point how the Chlorine from chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) reacts with ozone causing multiple depletion in the atmosphere. The programme took another interesting toll when the presenter asked about about the rate of environmental degradation in Nigeria. I was able to stress the need for a better and stable policy that will support a viable environment. Furthermore, we also discussed the possible ways by which youths can contribute to the environmental protection campaign. When asked about how environmental protection can be encouraged among youths, I suggested the introduction of celebrities for wider audience coverage. This is because, they have so access to large number of youths and can easily attract followers to support the clean environment dream. Tunza Eco-generation was also introduced as part of the social media platforms that focuses on promoting environmental awareness among youths and children in the world.
