![]() Hello, the Eco-Tunza platform. I am again so proud to be one of yours. Turkey, European Union Membership candidate since October 2005 have been to ask to acquire the environmental acquis gained by the states. Of course, Turkey has progressed since 2005 from ?totally incompatible? to ?moderately prepared ?comparatively in the field as the environment and climate change. Turkey has a lot to do in order to catch up with European states. Well, air pollution is not as critical in Turkey compared to Europe but it should be affirmed that air is not that clean in Turkey too. Great initiatives in environmental research and policies has been studied and are gradually being implemented and experimented by municipalities and the Ministry of Environment and urbanization. Universities all across the country are developing a vast tree planting campaign in this country that counts 193 universities. Carbon capture and storage has been identified as a potential tool but hasn?t received an acceleration support from many government : Just eleven countries in the world have given their support during the 2011 Clean Energy Ministerial meeting in Abu Dhabi . Among them we had tree European countries: UK, France and Germany. Carbon capture and storage projects have already been implemented by companies that have offices in Istanbul. Never forget: Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is the only technology available to mitigate emissions from large-scale fossil fuel use. |
