![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() March-2016 Topic of the Month "AIR POLLUTION" In the modern era of advanced technology, where everything is automated and easy to access, there are many problems too because of such machinery/facilities Air pollution, the rapidly growing environmental problem in Pakistan. Reasons are highly inefficient use of energy, accelerated growth in vehicle population, increasing industrial activities without proper air emission treatment, open burning of solid waste like plastic, are some major cause of deterioration of ambient air quality. Atmospheric pollution would be such a big problem, it harmfully effects on humans, animals, trees and the wider environment. Air pollutants enter in the body primarily through the respiratory system which thus becomes their main victim. Moreover, each air pollutant exerts their own specific adverse impacts, ranging from mild to really damaging. (Source-Google) Air pollution is mainly major reason behind health problems lung cancer (absorption of smoke causes lung cancer in case of both either active smoker or passive smoker), heart diseases (harm to the heart resulting from an insufficient supply of oxygenated blood) are leading causes of death. Simply, air pollution is a factor that you can not control just through healthy lifestyle. Therefore, to overcome such environmental issues like global warming, air pollution, unclean water etc Government should take these following steps -Identify and establish appropriate policies on air quality -Identify relevant legislative and regulatory requirements -Identify all sources of air pollution caused by human activities -Set appropriate objectives and targets for human & environmental health -Set priorities for achieving objectives and targets -Establish a structure and program to implement policies and achieve objectives & targets -Facilitate the monitoring of air quality and effects on human health & environment -Facilitate urban planning, corrective action and the prevention of adverse effects. -And ensure compliance with emission and air quality standards Reported by: NILESH KUMAR LUHANA Eco-Generation Ambassador (PAKISTAN) Contact: nileshk@live.com +92 333 2547487
