![]() ![]() Tetra Pak Indonesia is a packaging producer that works along side ecoBali to maximise the recycling of recyclable beverage cartons. These cartons include cartons of milk, juices, tea and others. Other than that, Tetra Pak Indonesia and ecoBali also works to increase awareness on waste disposal, recycling and renewable resources. I learned about Tetra Pak Indonesia from a mall that I go to on the weekends. Tetra Pak Indonesia have installed a stall in the mall where the mall visitors can drop in their beverage cartons in their recycling box. The curiosity inside me built up and I did some research on them to learn more about them. What I found in ecoBali?s website about it is that since the establishment of this program (Tetra Pak Recycling) in 2007, more than 600 tonnes of these beverage cartons have been collected and sent to recycling facilities such as Temesi (local waste recovery facility) and Jimbaran Lestari (local waste recovery facility). They currently have an average of 24 tonnes/month of monthly collection and recycling rate in the southern part of Bali. Tetra Pak Indonesia and ecoBali has also visited local schools to teach the students how to dispose of waste properly by using the 3 Rs and teaching them the importance of using renewable resources. The schools that are involved in the programme are also provided with a collection service where the students can collect their beverage carton and be sent to the recycling centre with the help of Tetra Pak Indonesia and ecoBali. Hotels have also been joining on the programme. Considering that hotels produces a lot of beverage carton waste, they are providing a huge amount of resource for recycling. Participating hotels also have awareness sessions to help them recognise the best way to dispose waste. |
