In two days 15 and 16, the 2016 Earth Hour launch was held successfully by Ministry of Industry and Trade in two big cities Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. The campaign will continue occurring in many other cities and provinces till 19 March.

This big and meaningful event attracted the participation of a huge number of young people and students and many other organizations as well as celebrities like Lan Khue – Miss Vietnam 2015, Ha Okio – famous singer.

In the launch, many students will together ride bikes across streets to raise awareness of saving energy among citizens. In Hanoi, some side programs are singing or performing aerobics on Ta Quang Buu Square.

According to Mr Trinh Quoc Vu – Director General, Department of Science and technology and Energy Efficiency, the purpose of 2016 Earth Hour is encouraging citizen to do small things to bring great benefit?. Just by saving electricity, water and consuming foods properly, the citizens will contribute so much to help Vietnam develop sustainably. Some statistics show that since 2009, only one hour lights off of Earth Hour campaign has saved Vietnam millions of kWh and this figure is expected to increase this year.
