Surabaya is a city located in East Java, Indonesia. It is one of big cities in Indonesia beside of the capital city, Jakarta. As a metropolitan city, most part of Surabaya becomes resident and commercial area. To maintain green space, the major of Surabaya made a program called Surabaya Green and Clean.

Surabaya Green and Clean is a program where many villages try to achieve effective and efficient green space, so the people can live comfortably. ?It will make environment in all through city become comfortable? said secretary of DKP Surabaya. Indeed many villages become more green and clean also many of people become more aware of environment.

This program was began in 2005, and still continue. The criteria of judgment are including condition of environment, waste management, and independent society. The winner from this program will be awarded money to do some training or other to improve their knowledge and skills.

Until now the participants of this program are almost 21% of total villages in Surabaya. A number which is indicate the awareness of environment from this city. Hopefully, the number will increase in the future!
