Dear Co-Ambassadors,
Greetings!
Recently, the members of our organisation, Serve The Heroes paid a visit to Al Ihsan Charity, Ajman, where we, the students had the opportunity to serve the less fortunate children such as refugees and orphans, spend time with them, entertain them, and get to know them better.
I, as the founder of my 4 year old initiative, Serve The Heroes, along with my team, decided to commemorate this Valentine?s Day in a red attire by showering love on the children who are not as fortunate, for that is the true essence of unconditional love and what the event was based on. Hence, the initative was dubbed as ?Spreading smiles.?
We started off by interacting with them, and trying to converse with them in Arabic. Then, a few members such as Khyati Saxena and Srujal Gawali sung some wonderful songs which really lifted the spirits of our young friends. Then, the distribution of the items began, with Eatables such as Chocolates, Apples, Strawberries, Chips and cakes, stationery items such as Pens, pencils, notebooks, drawing books, coloring books, story books & Color pencils, Toiletries such as Towels, mats and Soaps and accessory jewelry for girls, being handed out to the children.
Our friends, were given the opportunity to choose whatever they liked, and our volunteers handed it to them, the heroes of the day. The children were ranged between the ages of 5-15, and 50 children were catered to by our team of 30 volunteers.
The children were extremely delighted by this gesture. They felt elated and were very cheerful all throughout the event. We ourselves felt really blessed when they chose the items they wanted as if they were at a small grocery, shopping, but for free. One of our members, Mrs. Kherunnisa, was overwhelmed by the emotion and empathy of performing such a moral act, that she couldn?t hold back her tears. It was truly a great moment for all of us.
Izhan Khan, 10 years, said that these were the real heroes who needed to be appreciated and cared for. ?We all often take our parents for granted, but if we think from their perspective, we would realize how they feel. I think that?s amazing that we?re doing this to make them feel so special.? He added.
All in all, the day turned out to be fruitful, as the true meaning of Spreading Smiles surfaced. I urge all my dear ambassadors to spread this message and to go to such groups in the society and make them feel special and cared for while truly spreading smiles through this spirit of service.
We all have limited resources on this planet. Even then we can see, that the people who already have the most, start believing that they have gained the power to waste them and not expiate for them. This is already what is widening the gap in the society. Therefore to combat this inequitable distribution, we must make the best of whatever little we have left on this planet, and share our resources, time and happiness with those who are not fortunate enough., whether it is orphans, refugees or any other needy. This is also one of the true essences of sustainability. To not only ensure that everyone has equal access to our Mother Earth?s gifts in the future, but even today. This is also Saving the Environment!
I firmly foster the belief that on Valentine?s Day, instead of squandering money on fine dining or on expensive gifts, spending time with these children is what will fill you with content. I strongly recommend you to perform noble gestures with these children, an act that costs nothing but pays a lot. |
