Plastic and Global Warming

by | 14-02-2016 23:39

As a second-largest plastric user, Indonesia would emit so much GHG emissions by seeing how big plastic's carbon footprint. Based on (Juerg, 2009) The carbon footprint of plastic (LDPE or PET, poyethylene) is about 6 kg CO2 per kg of plastic. By the fact that Indonesia produced more than 3.2 Million tons of plastic waste on 2010, we can calculate that Indonesia has contributed 19.2 Mton CO2. Just seeing its contribution, the percentage of plastic waste is taking 1% of amount of Indonesia GHG emissions or 3.5% GHG emission without LULUCF. It's fantastic!

We need to #ActOnClimate now! Changing the habits, using Goodie Bags instead of plastic, using your own tumblrs and lunch boxes may save the world. Because #SmallActMatters when we do it Together!
