As a part of the campaign, the teams involved plan to clean the Bagmati river stretching up to 21 kilometers from Baghdwar to Chovar.

The 143rd week of the Bagmati Cleaning Campaign saw the collection of 17 metric tons of solid waste from the river and its bank from Baneswor campus to Min Bhawan bridge on Saturday morning. 

Apart from the regular supporters of the campaign, landless squatter families in Jagritinagar also joining the cleaning of the sacred river. Also taking part in the campaign today were members of Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, the locals and campaigners. 

Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi, former Chief Secretary and founder of the campaign Lilamani Poudyal, Chief of the Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee Rajesh Singh and other personalities also helped clean up the area. 

Meanwhile, a test of the water in the river carried out since the cleaning campaign gained speed showed that its quality had enhanced in compared to the past, Chief of the Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee Rajesh Singh said. 

Next week under the campaign will see volunteers joining hands to clean up the areas below the Min Bhawan bridge over the Bagmati river, according to the organizers
