![]() Nepal Government is soon launching an important project to reduce dependent on Water resources to produce electricity. Soon Roads will be hovered with lights from Solar Energy and it will reduce Electric Load by at least 5-10 % in Nepal. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Administration Kamal Thapa announced the program amidst a press meet here with an aim to reduce electricity load.
Minister Thapa said the program was unveiled as per the earlier decision of the cabinet. The cabinet on Friday had approved the regulation for the program.
Minister Thapa said the amount would be allocated for the program within the fiscal year as per the regulation, adding that the government plans to replace the current streetlights with the solar-powered ones.
The government will bear 60 percent of total cost in metropolitan, while local agency and community needs to bear 25 percent and 15 percent respectively. On other areas expect metropolitan, government will provide 65 percent of the total amount, followed by investment of 20 percent by local agencies and 15 percent by community.
The regulation has provisioned a 13-member central program coordination committee with Minister for Local Administration or state minister directed by minister as a coordinator.
