I wish 2016 will be the BEST year ever for all of us in terms of fulfilling our responsibilities towards our mother earth. In order to make the most out of this year we should look back in 2015 and learn from our past experiences and identify and remove the old habits that caused harm to our environment and carry forward the activities that had positive impact around us. I am a firm believer that success takes planning and so the New Year Resolutions are necessary to create calm, amazing, joyful and green environment. A new calendar year can be a great time to initiate new changes in our environment.

Last year I shared with my fellow Tunza members various campaigns that I initiated in my community like ?Give a new life to your Old Books?. The year 2016 has been declared as ?the year of reading? in the UAE which aims to produce a generation of readers as well as cementing the UAE's position as a centre of literature, culture and knowledge. Reading is the first skill needed by youth of present generations for the initiatives and sustainable programmes that can make a real difference in future generations.

Reading develops the imagination and the creative side of people, so I will carry this forward by creating different reward programmes for community along with other environmental activities that I have been doing for many years including ?Plant a sapling?, ?Segregation of Waste?. This campaign not only prevents books from going to waste, but also preserves the environment. This process is eco-friendly as it reduces the amount to landfills, energy is conserved as printing of new books is not required, helps children in saving money and helps in improving the lives of underprivileged children, and trees are also prevented from being cut down as the wastage of paper is reduced.  

Awareness changes everything and I can notice these changes in my neighbours, relatives, friends and community.  I have decided to reach to more people in my society, including parents of children as children learn from what they see and they pick up that habit after them. I have decided to conduct activities throughout the year more actively.
