Solid waste management is all those activities and action required to manage waste from its inception to final disposal. Solid waste tends to increase with rapid urbanization, improved living standards and changing consumption patterns. In Nepal most urban residents consider solid waste management the most important environmental problem in urban areas.

Hence, yesterday on Jan 13, 2016 Nepal Friendship Society in collaboration with Ratnanagar municipality organized environment conservation and door to door awareness program on solid waste management in Mohana among with TUNZA?s Regional ambassador Bindu Bhandari and 6 volunteers including the students of Mohana school. I feel it was a golden opportunity to volunteer with Bindu di and to be the part of program.

The main objective of the program was to create awareness among the local people on 'disaster reduction, environment conservation and sustainable development'.

We feel really happy that we were able to convince the people and provide knowledge regarding solid waste management and burning of plastics as well as its consequences.
