The Cause and Effects of Fine Dust

by | 30-12-2015 22:48

Fine dust is a type of air pollution which is lighter and smaller than the commonly known dust. It is mostly made when fossil fuels like oil or coal are burned, or when cars emit smoke. It also is made when we grill fish or meat. It can be harmful to the country that causes it and also to countries that are nearby because they move around following the wind. Many people often confuse fine dust to yellow dust, but they are actually very different from each other. Yellow dust is made from sand, but fine dust is caused when the substances of air pollution meet water and gather together.

Recently, Korea has been suffering from the fine dust that comes from neighbor countries. Fine dust includes a lot of heavy metal which comes into our lung and bodies and pile up. Fine dust causes asthma, bronchitis, and other problems in our lungs. Also, because the size of the dust is small enough to go deep into our alveolus, it is hard to pull them out of our body.

Korea itself also produces a lot of fine dust. When fine dust from other countries and Korea come together, that is when it becomes very harmful. Fine dust can be prevented by special masks that filter the dust, but it is best not to stay outside when they say there is a lot of fine dust in the atmosphere.
