 Biji-Biji Initiative – a Malaysian social enterprise that champions progressive ideas and sustainable living through the creative reuse of discarded materials. The social enterprise?s core business is creating sustainable design concepts and items using green technology, effective waste management methodology and creative upcycling of discarded materials, its website said. The products sold on the website include, bags and pencil cases, made with at least 70 per cent recycled materials, sourced mostly in Malaysia. Aside from upcycled products, Biji-Biji also runs workshops and events related to waste management and green technology. The Biji-Biji Initiative has brought new life to the word of recycle and we have always looked at recycled items being of inferior quality and also have limited usage but this Malaysian Initiative has sparked interest as well as created a market for recycled items that might change the perception of people towards recycled items. |
