It is 12:30 GMT & an average 29ᵒC in Ashanti Region of Ghana. I have traveled a two hour journey – via bus, and just arrived at the ADANSI EAST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY to discuss Green Africa Youth Organization's water treatment and conservation project. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by a new staff whom I had earlier communicated with to assist me with introductions for the purpose of my visit. For the next 1 hour, I will be in a meeting with the District Environmental Health Office to discuss our project with them for funding and institutional support. Basically, provision of potable water for communities within the district is a challenge and as such we will like to raise awareness on basic steps for water treatment and also conservation of water. Illegal small scale mining is another active occupation for most youth within the district of which I anticipate that the office of the Environmental Health will give us approval to educate community folks on the effects of small scale mining – water pollution. I am filled with hope as I represent myself in my yellow eco-generation shirt and have my business card to identify myself as an ambassador for Tunza Eco-Generation. I anticipate for a better outcome for my soon to commence meeting. Wish me luck, my lovely friends of nature. |
