Nov?15 morning after sharing the initiatives of Tunza Eco- gen with the students of St. Thomas, Jabalpur , India , in the afternoon I went to Kendriya Vidalaya - 1, GCF, Jabalpur, India to spread the word of Tunza Eco Generation , encourage the students to be a part of green initiatives and take green action at local level.
This is a co-education school for class – 1 to class – XII, with around 2000 students are studying here. Mr. A S Thakur , the principal of the school was happy to learn about Tunza and gave me the opportunity to interact with his school students so that they can be a part of such green initiatives and he be motivated to work for the environment. The principal is a very active person who has been conducting various green projects in his school which I hope to share in future reports. 82 students and 3 teachers took part in my presentation which was held in the school?s conference room. In the last week only he had organized regional level contest on ?National Children Science Congress? at his school , the theme was ? weather and climate?. Around 300 students took part in the contest. I presented various initiatives of Tunza Eco - Gen through a power point presentation, including ambassador reports, essay contests, scope to take part in the Global Youth Eco –leadership Summit . I shared the background information about the formation of the organization , the current year theme , the activity of 60 ambassadors and support extended by Samsung Engineering. . To make them members of the Tunza eco -gen, I guided them and showed the system of updation of the details. By the power point presentation, I had shared the information of the essay contest , for which the last date for submission was extend up to10th. Nov?15. found most of the students were interested to take part in the contest. The resources available online related to air, water , energy etc. were shown to the students by connecting to the website and for the energy related information readily available , which would have helped them to write the essay effectively. I am sure most of them must have sent there essays to win an opportunity to take part in GYELS.
Most of the students are attached with Facebook and twitter , but after learning about Tunza Eco generation they are very happy and the information shared in the Card of Tunza Eco gen was explained and they were happy to receive Tunza pens whose body is made of recycled papers. The School caption came forward and shared her views about this wonderful environmental networking platform Tunza, promised me that they will share all they gained through my presentation with all the students in their school, requested me to help them open there accounts and thanked me for coming.(attached here is a photo of the girl sharing her views)
I will reach out to more youth in future and encourage them to work for nature protection.
