Substantial growth of population and urbanization and an unprecedented stride in the constructional developments along with the economic developments have put UAE in the prime focus of the world but it has also put tremendous pressure on its transportation system. The daily rising demand for both people and goods' mobility has resulted in increasing levels of congestion on the road system of the UAE, posing serious threats to the fragile natural environment.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of UAE has a long-range comprehensive transportation strategy that addresses current and future transportation issues and provides a wide range of solutions that enables UAE to have an efficient, safe and environmentally sound transportation system.

Human behavior plays a paramount role in making the transport sustainable by choosing the way individuals and institutions choose to travel. To achieve this, there is a great need for public and corporate awareness and then the willingness to initiate and actively apply practices with the objective of making transportation more sustainable among as many organizations as possible.

Recently, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) celebrated its 10th anniversary on November 1st and also its sixth Transport Day. In order to encourage the public to use more of public transport Dubai transport authority gave rewards to deserving people who used more of public transport rather than car. Gold bars, Apple watches, computers and cash were given away as prizes to the most frequent users of Dubai?s public transport system to mark the Day. Metro, bus, ferry all public transport ride was free that Day.
