Saving Water in Mosques [used before Prayer]

by Rohan Kapur | 26-10-2015 21:50

There are thousands of mosques in the UAE & on an average a worshipper uses 25 liters of water each time they go for prayer. Praying 5 times a day makes it 125 Liters & considering the number of mosques & users it is millions of gallons involved here.

As reported in The National Dr Ahmed Al Jaberi, assistant professor in material science in the Masdar city, Abu Dhabi has invented a simple device that will limit the use to 1.2 Liters per day to be used for the pre-prayer ablution process, or wudu, and will be ready to be introduced in January 2016.

It?s a vessel & it could inspire worshippers to exercise restraint in using the resource. This is simple to install & does not require major changes. The water vessel can be attached to any wall, surface or tap.

The water is really precious in the UAE as it uses lots of energy for its production from Desalination. Such measures will conserve & save water & this precious resource will be preserved & this will result is saving energy as well.
