Local Agricultural Product Creative Campaign in Japan

by | 17-09-2015 23:54

Food is things that we will never get separated on it, isn?t it? We eat everyday, unless we would die. Have you ever thought, where your food come from? Where your rice come from, where your bread come from, where your meat come from, and so on. Sometimes, even we have no rice field in our living region, we still can eat it. It is because there is food product import. By importing many products, we can fulfill our dietary requirements.

But, the problems we are facing on is importing foods without considering local products. Sometimes importing food become cheaper than produce it by ourselves. But, it doesn't mean it has no negative side. Importing food, for sure, needs energy to transport goods from one place to another place. For example, there is potatoes import by using truck from city A to city B. The longer distance between two cities, the more gasoline that we need to make truck wheels keep spinning around.

To overcome this problem, Central Union of Agricultural Co-operatives Japan had promoted Japanese agricultural products in a creative way until September 6. They did campaign by decorating passageway at Shinjuku Station, district which has the most crowded intersection in the World, in Tokyo. They put ?Giant vegetables? in 15 columns in that passageway. By walking in those area, passengers can be able to access 20 kinds of domestically-grown vegetables online via GR code on the wall.

This eye-catching advertisement might attract people, especially kids, because it was so cute, to buy those local products. So, I do really hope that this kind of campaign not only for short time, but for long time. Moreover, this campaign may be applied in other parts of country or even in around the World. If we can consume our local product, why we need to import them?
