by | 11-09-2015 09:13

DAY  1!!!!

Preety excited!! Had reason too!! I was among the 30 attendees from different background to attend a 4 days  training workshop on climate change , carbon financing and REDD+ organized by Youth Alliance For Environment (YAE). I woke up early and left for the venue which is  3 hours away from my home. It was exact time when  I reached the venue.

With a cup of tea and introduction,we had our first day training started by our resource person (President of YAE).The entire programme was divided into 3 session. In the first session, we had talks on climate change, its history, history of .IPCCC ,UNFCCC,COP , its outcome and lot more..We came to know about these all clearly and also discussed on the policies of Nepal to mitigate and adapt climate change. Our resource person made all of us crystal clear about climate change , GHGs ,role of countries with examples. Then in second session we had information about  Local Adaptation Project Of Action (LAPA).LAPA  is the community based approach hat take a ?vulnerability first? approach to climate change adaptation. Its thematic areas in context of Nepal are:

 1)Agriculture And Food Security , 2)Forest And Biodiversity , 3)Water Resources And Energy , 4)Public Health , 5)Urban Settlement And Infrastructures , 6)Climate Induced Diasters.

Its principles are:

1)Bottom-up , 2)Inclusive ,  3)Responsive , 4)Flexible

Its Steps:

1)Climate change sensitization

2)Climate change vulnerability and adaptation assessment

3)Prioritization of adaptation options

4)LAPA formulation

5)LAPA integration into planning process

6)LAPA implementation

7)Progress assessment.

And finally the most vulnerable problem I identified and solution is implemented. We had groupwork on LAPA methods..Everybody performed the group work with full dedication. And on the 3rd session we had presentation on what we did..Overall,the programme was informative and effective.
