![]() ![]() ![]() The government's effort to educate people about the environment around is not limited to schools or direct campaign. I see there are some innovative ways recently. One that I am going to tell, it is about information tag. For me, it is very informative and educative even though not all people will read or notice it.
In my previous city and current city, there are information tag in every city tree. I find them public park or along the street. The tag contents are Latin name of tree, local name and also family. I guess it is very educative because many people do not know about the trees planted around them. I ever have a conversation with my friend and we were very tired to remember about a tree we talked about. We described the trees with the characteristic we have seen. "The leaf is so tiny", "the shape is quite strange", "the color of flower is yellow" and etc. It was very upsetting since we spent much calories just to force our brain worked harder to retrieve the memory.
My little sister who studies in biology right now is very happy with information tag. It helps her a lot in her subject. It is easier to her for finding more information and learning more about the characteristics of the plant.
I believe the information tag is very beneficial for students. It is kind of additional class from the outside. While playing or hanging out around with their parents, they study about vegetation around them. And for me, information tag is kind of accessories to the trees, because comparing to trees without it, the trees with information tag are more attractive.
I hope that there are many citizens notice the existence of this information tag, because currently not all people think that information tag is useful. Some of older generation believe that the information tag is not really important. Even, some of them say that tagging trees are government budget wasting. I am quite worry if those people teach that doctrine to their children. The children might have the same opinion with their parents. |
