During our stay there, we paid a visit to the India Habitat Centre. The IHC (India Habitat Centre) is a building complex, that provides state of the art facilities for individuals and institutions. It hosts the offices of organizations like All India Housing Development Association, Central Building Research Institute, Centre for Development Studies & Activities (CDSA) Centre for Science & Environment,Council of Architecture, International Labour Organisation etc.
The wonderful thing about this building complex is that it is designed keeping in mind the environment with a view to increase effectiveness. The IHC walk is an event wherein various zoos, monuments, wildlife sanctuaries, museums, art galleries etc. are explored. The grounds of the IHC are also replete with various artworks from Indian artists During our walk around this beautiful enclosure, we saw the offices of organizations like TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute). We were taken in by the visually appealing landscaping and the unique pieces of artwork on display by various artists in India. It was heartening to see so much of greenery nestled so beautifully in the midst of the bustle of New Delhi and it was indeed, a very enriching experience. |
