![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last week I got a call from Editor of UAE's national newspaper "The National" . First he appreciated my efforts towards environmental advocacy and congratulated me for winning recently the "International Young Eco Hero Award". He then told me that they want to run a full page article on Climate Change and would like to interview me asking me what challenges I face in my environmental campaign , what resistances from people , what kind of issues or messages have the greatest impact , what strategies I use for campaigns , are there any topics I avoid while talking to people about environment , what advice I can give to people who want to conduct environment campaign and how can they get their message heard? He deputed his Senior Reporter to interview me . I was interviewed for almost 40 minutes. I shared with him that I tailor make /customise my campaign style/content and duration depending upon my target audiences like when it comes to session with kids, I do it in fun filled way by environment games and telling them the tips which are simple for their age group to understand and follow. With women- I do it differently for housewives and working class/professionals. For teenagers , I take the approach of showing environment movie , interactive session followed by quiz. When I did for labourers , I spoke mainly in simple Hindi (as they were Indian and Bangaldeshi labourers and did not understand English) and spoke in day to day/easy to understand terms and not environment terminologies/jargons. Such interviews are an experience to go through and tools of motivation too. It was published in 13th Aug paper. You can read the same online through below link : |
