[FEBRUARY FREE REPORT] GREEN LIVING

by Bethelhem Ayalew Kebede | 01-03-2023 01:59

If we want to work towards a greener future we also need to take into account the products we use in our everyday lives, including women. Most menstrual products used by women end up in a landfill. This constant cycle of waste should be reduced.

There should be an increase in reusable menstrual products for women. While some developed countries are working towards this goal, it is still a faraway dream for women in developing countries.

Reusable feminine hygiene products should be accessible to all women and they should have no cost or an extremely decreased cost. Women should not have to spend money on basic necessities such as menstruation products, they should be covered by the government. In economies burdened by drought and inflation, when the cost of simply putting food on the table is difficult, women should not have to take extra costs for these products.

Companies and governments who work towards making accessible, free and reusable feminine hygiene products should be made an example of and copied by governments worldwide. Projects like these are what I would like to participate in. I would be helping create a world where young girls and women don¡¯t have to worry about spending money on basic necessities and help reduce the large amounts of waste produced by these products, thereby making a sustainable environment.
