|BRAZIL| Solar energy in Brazil

by Luiz Bispo | 08-08-2015 03:40

Energy is essential part of our life. All creatures in the world including humans, animals and plants need the energy to survive. Human used to use fossil fuel from which the pollutant is generated, which is liable for greenhouse effect leading to global warming. It is well known that the amount of fossil fuel is limited. People start to look for renewable energy which is neither depleted nor harmful for environment.

In particular, solar energy is important part of every life. We get nutrient in our sells from solar energy. Plant harness the energy to create the green chlorophyll and humans? body produce the vitamin D with sun rays. If so, why could solar energy be important for environment? What is exactly solar energy is.

Solar energy is generated by sun beam light, heat. It is converted to electricity to be used in building and houses etc. Usually, the form of panels which face the direction of the sun to get the rays. The solar cells from here are converted into useable electricity.

In light of this, solar energy is natural sources so that it is considered as a clean energy. This energy does not destruct any environment and ecosystem unlike conventional fuel such as oil or gas. No pollutant from this energy will not cause any other air or water contamination.

Brazil has ultimately favorable condition to produce solar energy. Especially, there is a large and constant amount of solar radiation whole year in the Northeast and Midwest area in Brazil. However, even though Brazil has the optimal condition, the world rank that most use solar energy is just 10th place. Let me introduce a couple of reasons for it.

First of all, Brazil's political goal in 70's aimed to invest in hydroelectric power plants and dams. Therefore, only 1% of solar or wind energy is produced due to their unchanged consume of hydroelectric energy.

Secondly, about 80% of 200 companies working with solar energy located in the south or southeast of Brazil.

Thirdly, Brazil depends on import to get the photovoltaic solar cells because there are not yet produced in Brazil so the price of them is expensive.

Besides the reasons above, there are more reasons assumed. The most important thing is to figure out the reasons that are still stagnant to develop solar system and find the solution for environment. Brazil is promising country to possess huge nature and good condition to protect them.
