The wind is the second competitive renewable energy in Brazil, which is much cheaper than solar or biomass energy. Interestingly, Brazil can produce the wind power generation at the third lowest cost in the world, following by India and China.
The poorest areas such as the states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Piauí and Ceará have most rich wind. The Brazilian Wind Energy Association has a national plan to install new capacity of wind for 1GW every year, which is expected to offer the improvement of life quality and rise of regional income. This renewable source also will contribute to creating 120,000jobs by 2018.
However, still 75%of total renewable energy in Brazil is coming from hydro power. Brazil's 10year plan for energy investment is to increase hydro power from 84.8GW to 119GW by 2022. What's even worse is there is new plan to increase oil production 5m barrels per day by 2023.
Based on articles, Brazil has a huge potential to be the most use of renewable energy in the world. Unfortunately, it comes true very slowly. Human needs energy to use our accommodation, work or survive. However, we have no right to burst into other creature's habitants or damage environments. The promising chance to co-exist together is to develop the renewable source, that is to use from nature. I hope that in near future, I could hear the news of plan for more natural source.
