It is said that cigarette is harmful to human body both active and passive way.  However, many people are not aware of how serious impact of cigarette has on environment as well.  The toxic chemicals come out of cigarette litters, which could pollute the environment and harm the ecosystem. They are designed to be long-lasting to be able to threat the environment.

Most of the Brazilians smokers live in Porto Alegre city (South of Brazil). It is about 250 thousand people that smoke in that city. The Health Ministry of Brazil estimates that each person smokes around 20 cigarettes per daya. Due to this fact, the company called ?Eco Prática? (Eco-Practice) launched on 23th of July the project of proper cigarette butt disposal.

The company shall set up specific bins around the city where people will be able to address the cigarette butts. The cigarette butts will be collected and forwarded to a cement factory. Also, it shall be used to produce energy.

Unfortunately, people throw away the cigarette butts in improper places such as streets and parks. Aside from being a toxic material, it is hardly to be collected by the cleaners who everyday pass by the city to collect waste.

Moreover, there is a fine for people that dump the cigarette butt in a wrong place. The fine is of about $140, 00.

The president of the company said that the public power and government have a strong role to the new idea. They are essential to the success of the project.

The goal is to have about 4.000 cigarette butt bin in the city until the end of 2015. Nonetheless, they aim to reach 10.000 in a short period of time. The eco company is looking for new partners and they will set up the project in front of pubs, restaurants, nightclubs and parks as well.
