I wanted to do some plantation on World environment day but due to the dry period I was unable. Last week as we had public holidays, my university was closed and I got time to go to my village 19th July. It takes about four hours to reach my village from Pokhara, which includes ride on a bus and Jeep. As district forest office(DFO) from where I could get the seedlings were also closed until 21st July,I had to wait till then. Unfortunately we couldn?t get seedlings from DFO Syangja and bringing seedlings from Pokhara included a long time and processes to be fulfilled. I was disappointed that this time too my plan went in vain and involving small school kids in plantation was going to be a failure.
Then my parents suggested me to collect the seedlings available at around home and fields. In a short time we were able to collect nine seedlings and two saplings of different species which are as follow:-

1) Bel(Agele marmelos)
2)Tanki (Bahunia purpurea)
3)Imli(Tamarindus indica)-2
4)Rudrakchya(Elaeocalpus sphaericus)
5)Dalchini(Cinnamomum zelaynicum)
6)Pakhuri(fodder spps)-2
7)
Amriso (Thysanolaena maxima)
8) Nemaro (Ficus roxburghii)
As we had only these limited number of plants i wouldnt take all the school kids for plantation but I could definitey take all the kids from my home.So I took my five kids (nieces and nephew) for plantation along with my father and brother. This plantation was carried out on a hilly terrain which is susceptible to erosion. The kids enjoyed digging and planting, afterall they were allowed to play with mud.As the area is prune to grazing it's litlle bit difficult to raise those plants with ease but my parents and those kids have promised to take care of them.I hope for the postive results.
