By uploading many kinds of articles as ambassador of Tunza Eco Generation, I have kept insisting how important rainforest  is. It plays an important role in reducing CO2 as well as being home for variety of animals. A sizable Amazon land is the place where can confirm the biodiversity in the world. Today I would share the report from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

According to report, the researchers have found 1,200 new species such as 637 new plants, 357 fish, 216 amphibians, 55 reptiles, 39 mammals, and 16 new birds in the Amazon rainforest between 1999 and 2009. In other words one new species are discovered for every three days. In particular, new anaconda, river dolphin, an ancient ant, a big spider with blue fangs, and seven new monkeys are distinctive animals discovered over the past decade.

The UN conference held and brought the leaders from different countries to agree on saving Amazon forest, however, it seems not to be successful. However, 17% of the Amazon has been deforested since 1960, the countries in the world have made the persistent efforts in various ways. The governments from Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay pledged to achieve "net zero deforestation" in the Atlantic forest by 2020 at The World Forestry Congress in 2009. Furthermore, World Bank provides $13million to protect Brazil's Cerrado region.

The Cerrado is in central high plains area in Brazil, which is the most biologically rich region across world. However, unfortunately only less than 2% of this savanna is protected.

Industrial farming, mining, logging, oil development and dam expansion have destroyed the Amazon, which have threatened the biodiversity. The world's most surprising place is Amazon.. Our descendent would not enjoy our precious animals any more. I remind of my fiancé's comment after visiting the Zoo in Sao Paulo. This zoo is surrounded by forest to make the variety animals feel home.

She felt as if she was exposed to animal community there. For the first time in her life, she thought the earth is not only for human but for the place where all kinds of creatures co-exist together. As watching many animals there, she started to feel a shame about the acts committed by human beings these days. Human is just one of the various living things.

It is important to care earning money, success and travel.. in personal life but being aware of the world wide issues such as reckless development of nature, pollution and endangered species etc is more crucial. She, as Asian, has less opportunity to feel various animals and nature than I have.

She decided to do something meaningful works for world.

Endangered species:

 GOLDEN LION TAMARIN

This monkey has lion fur with gold color and lived in tropical rain forest in Southeastern Brazil. The population is estimated fewer than about only 200 in the world. They have been disappeared due to the region cleared for agriculture and ranching and poaching for medical research.

BLUE HYACINTH MACAW

 This bird has a fresh and vivid blue color and lived in southern Brazil. The population of them is estimated to about 2,500. This bird has captured to be used as a pet and lost their habitats. The exploitation of bird has threatened their life.
