Building Liberia's Green Army the emergence of TUNZA Eco-generation Liberia

by | 23-07-2015 19:33

Since the Government of Liberia decided to institute reforms in the Educational sector, it has been quite difficult to use the promotional goods sent me by the Eco-generation team to carry out my event as planned. However, we miss opportunities for access to greater opportunities. This time around, it was an opportunity to introduce TUNZA Eco-generation to the rest of the Country especially to a bigger and more integral network. The German Development Cooperation funded a Natural Resource Day and asked the Kofi Anan Institute for Conflict transformation and the Natural Resources Research Initiative, my institution to host the event. Attending the event too was the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiatives who came along with their Extractive clubs from some of the best high schools in the country.  I facilitated a break out session which trained these students and soon they were all emerging environment voices yearning for change and improvement in the progress of the country?s environmental sustainability. We have been able to recruit over twenty five (25) smart, brilliant and intelligent students and they are all waiting for formal training to commence so that they can be ready for the green frontline. This step projects the beginning of the TUNZA Eco-generation-Liberia.
