Wind-Breakers Update!

by | 24-07-2015 04:27

One too long ago, I wrote about the amazing work a group of profound young climate ambassadors were doing in Mpika. I hope you remember because they are at it again, adding to the billion tree campaign- they planned a tree planting party. This is how it all started.
About a few weeks ago Mpika Wind-breakerz applied liquid fertilizer to their tree nursery, for a better and successful growth of our tree species.
Just a few days ago, the Mpika windbreakers together with the Forestry Department and The Foundation for Wildlife and Habitat Conservation went to the forest reserved area were more than 3000 pine trees were planted by the enthusiast bunch. In a conversation with the executive chairperson for the Wildlife and Habitat Conservation he outlined to #Andozile_Simwinga (Mpika Wind-Breakerz Ring Leader! ) that "It is important, first to understand what a precious resource forests play in our world. They form part of a delicate ecosystem that has taken millions of years to evolve. Forests every year help to absorb almost 20% of man made CO2 emissions therefore deforestation can be classed as a #major_contributor to the causes of climate change. Cutting down forests faster than they can be replaced has a devastating effect on the carbon emission cycle producing an extra 17% of greenhouse gases."
Windbreakers closed the Tree Planting party by saying "#Green inspires us... Are you inspired by green? then start acting to preserve it...because deforestation is a major contributor of climate change."
Inspired by their will to make a difference in their community, Mpika wind-breakerz flame of passion burns brighter and stronger like never before.
This has been an Mpika Windbreakerz update, Zambia's change agents at work brought to you by yours truly. Until next time, lets make some noise for climate justice.
