![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First of all, my apologies for the late report about the World Environmental Day (WED). My summer vacation just started and now I have some time to catch up on my backlog. Most of you remember that I posted a report about the Environmental Exhibition Korea (ENVEX Korea 2015) held in Seoul from June 2 to June 5 to celebrate the WED, June 5th. Unfortunately this year, due to MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) going around near Seoul, which is almost gone, many events for the WED were cancelled. Among them were the UNEP event and our school event where my club members were supposed to conduct campaign for world environment protection for celebration for the WED. I am a member of school club named "Daecheong Environment Protection Club". We meet once in two weeks and discuss the current environmental issues and sometimes prepare an event to encourage our friends to be aware of and interested in many environmental issues. For us to prepare the WED, we met a week before the WED, discussed this year's UNEP slogan, "Seven billion dreams, one planet. Consume with care". Every member also brought several news articles about this year's WED activities in other countries and figured out what would be the good things that we can do for our environment. In addition, we prepared various pickets for the environmental protection. Actually, we were supposed to stand and campaign by holding those pickets on the way to school in the morning of the WED, but due to the heavy rain on June 4th, the World Environmental Day, our campaign was canceled unfortunately. Even though there was no WED celebration nor street campaign to share the current issues with other friends, we had a fun time to get together and discuss the current environmental issues. |
